Resources for Externship Students

When using keyword searches, use Boolean searches (e.g. cat /p dog to find documents in which cat and dog appear in the same paragraph) rather than natural language searches (e.g. "How many parking garages does UNLV have?"). Start your searches broadly

• Cat AND Dog (searching for documents containing both cat and dog)
• Cat /p Dog (searching for documents in which cat and dog appear in the same paragraph)

If the search produces too many results, narrow your search

• Cat /s Dog (cat and dog in the same sentence) 
• Cat /5 Dog (cat and dog within 5 words of each other)

Your search results page also displays filters (on the left side of your screen). Use them to further narrow your search results

• Judge
• Party
• Search within the results
