Historical Municipal Codes

Historical versions of municipal codes are generally available in one or more of three locations:

  • A commercial publisher's website;
  • A municipal government website or clerk's office; and/or
  • An archive or library in the jurisdiction.

The City of Las Vegas, which we have been using as an example, does not keep older versions in the first two options, so that leaves library print collections as the final option. Below are two screenshots with catalog entries for the Las Vegas Municipal Code in print:

If you require historical versions of municipal codes and are unable to visit a library, you may be able to request a limited number of scans be sent to you by email.

The City of Henderson keeps historical code versions online through MuniCode, which can be seen on the left side in the screenshot below:
