Law Journal Resources
Books
The Wiener-Rogers law library is open to Boyd law students and faculty. To find out if the library has a book you need, please search the law library catalog.
You may also fill out a request form to request a Wiener-Rogers Law Library book. If you need 40 or fewer pages from a Wiener-Rogers Law Library item, Circulation Desk staff may scan and email the pages to you. If you need a full book, Circulation Desk staff will contact you when the request is available for pickup, and will hold requests for 7 days.
If you need to check out a book from Lied Library, sign into the Lied Library catalog with your ACE ID. You can request the item for pick up at Lied by clicking on the Request button on the book's catalog record. When you go to Lied, you will need to check out the book in your own name using your own RebelCard. Once the book is checked out, please email either Agnes Semling (agnes.semling@unlv.edu) or Brett Miller (brett.miller@unlv.edu) and ask them to checkout the book to either the NLJ or GLJ account.
If UNLV Libraries do not have the book you need, please search the following resources:
- HathiTrust (Click on Log In on the upper-right corner and then select University of Nevada - Las Vegas)
- HathiTrust is a great resource if you are looking for old materials that are in public domain.
- In addition, as a response to COVID-19, HathiTrust currently offers Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS) to the member institutions including UNLV.
- This means many of Lied Library's books are electronically available on HathiTrust.
- Google Books
If you are looking for a historical legal treatise, search the following databases. Remote access is available via the MyBoydLaw portal.
- Making of Modern Law: Treatises, 1800-1926
- LLMC Digital
- HeinOnline
- The Legal Classics database contains historical treatises
- The Intellectual Property Law Collection database contains historical IP law treatises.
If nether we nor Lied has the book you need in our collections, you may need to request the book through ILL. Please reach out to one of the law librarians directly or to the reference desk (lawlibraryrefdesk@unlv.edu) and ask a librarian to confirm that the book is not in the collection.
Once you've confirmed that an ILL is necessary, please follow the normal procedures to request an ILL through your designated editor.
